My girlfriend Jeanie's husbands, Johns' horse "WHIP" suddenly & unexpectedly took sick. He had to be put down the same evening. It was a terrible shock to everyone, especially her husband John. Broke his heart. Whip was his first horse & not only did he do everything John wanted but WHIP was the kind of horse any man would be proud to ride.

Jeanie's Arabian "Jazz" also took Whip's death very hard.  He'd stand for hours on the very spot where Whip first fell down. Jeanie was heartsick. I offered to move Eclipse to her house as company for Jazzy until they got another horse for John. Eclipse's best friend "Wulffe" died 5 months earlier . He never got over Wulffe's death so maybe this might be healing for Eclipse as well,

God Bless Angela, she brought her 4 horse trailer to pick up Eclipse. I think he loaded fine, can't remember, but, as I've said before, Eclipse never had an uneventful trailer ride.  Sure enough, as they pulled the truck and long trailer out of our driveway the trailer dipped into a small but deep ditch then back out again. OUCH! I'm sure Eclipse got quite a jolt. I wished I could've been inside the trailer, just to assure him everything was going to be OK so he wouldn't fret or think its going to get worst. The rest of the trip was smooth but not in Eclipse's imagination.

Arriving at Jeanie's we opened the trailer to find one extremely soaking wet, wide eyed & frightened Eclipse. Poor Baby. He'd been so nervous he sweated a pond of water beneath him.  We took our time calming him and reassuring him everything was OK!.

He met Jazzy. They hit it off right away; Eclipse put the memories of the trailer ride behind him and all was well in pony land. Eclipse finally found a buddy who wanted to gallop & play too.So far, so good.

The 3 of us. Jeanie, Angela and myself, decided on a trail ride to help get the horses acquainted under friendly, fun circumstances.  Great idea! Everyone had a ball!

On the return home, as we approached Jeanie's house, Eclipse, without hesitation turned away from the her driveway, started walking lickety split across the street toward Jeanie's neighbours and in the opposite direction from Angela's trailer. There was no doubt in his mind he was not getting back in the trailer alone again, even if it meant walking the entire 20+ miles home. He was definitely on a mission! He was so funny. Had to do some serious talking & persuading to get him to willingly turn around and head back.

Here's a picture of Jeanie & Eclipse in her barn. Just spoke with her on the phone. As we're talking, she sees Eclipse & Jazzy in the pasture outside her window. They're having a ball galloping in the field, using up the entire pasture running. They'd start at the very bottom and race as fast as they could to the top. She doesn't care if they're tearing up the pastures, she's just glad to see them having fun! Gosh I wish we had a video of this. I'd love to see it too!

Jazzy may be 4 years old, but at 22, Eclipse is still fast as the wind and quite a challenge for Jazzy. Jazz constantly runs non-stop with Eclipse! We think it's possible Jazz never met another horse faster then him, so he's having the time of his life challenging Eclipse. Sometimes Jazz even hangs his head over Eclipse's back as they're galloping. Can you picture that?

For years Eclipse has nipped & prodded at Shetan to get him to race but Shetan would never bite the bait. he remembers from their first race. Shetan is no match for Eclipse and Shetan hates to lose, so they never raced again. But Eclipse never gave up trying to egg him on. You can see some of it in the Snow Pictures Slideshow: Now for the first time in his Eclipse's life he has someone who wants to do the one thing he loves more then anything in the world: RUN FULL OUT. For the first time Eclipse is not low man but is instead looked up to; He's now head honcho, Eclipse is finally the boss, but with his Heart of Gold he's a merciful ruler.

Jazzy is as playful as Eclipse, so there is an abundance of love twirling around that pasture! My heart fills with Joy every time I hear how much Eclipse is enjoying himself! Jeanie said if Eclipse stops & puts his head down to smell something, Jazzy does the same. Whatever Eclipse does; Jazzy does. Jazzy imitates everything Eclipse does!  Sounds just like Eclipse & Shetan. Whatever Shetan would do, Eclipse would do. They'd even run in complete unison.

When Jeanie leaves the barn after feeding dinner, Eclipse follows her looking for his treat BUT, Jazz stands behind and waits .... Sound familiar?  Jazz nips @Eclipse to make him play,  Just like Shetan & Eclipse. Years ago, a guy from one of the stables I boarded at said that when Eclipse grows up he wants to be Shetan. At another barn, a neighbor called me to tell me she's never seen horses run and play as much as my guys. Told her it's Eclipse! He's my Jane Fonda Horse! LOL! She seriously asked if she could borrow Eclipse to help get her pasture potato horses to move & exercise. If I wasn't concerned Eclipse might get bullied or hurt, I'd consider it because I knew he'd had her horses and mine all running at the same time and loving every minute. Exercise & play makes for a happy horse.

If there is any animal on this earth that deserves an abundance of Love its Eclipse! He has such a Heart of GOLD for everyone and everything.

Eclipse, finally got his wish. He grew up to be Shetan!

This morning I suggested we setup a web cam so we could both watch the excitement & playing in the pasture. Boy! wouldn't that be a blast  I don't know if that's even possible, or how it works, but if people can do it in their living room, why not out a window?  Of course, Jeanie needs to get a computer first *big smile*

She's is going to look at a couple horses today for John. If its meant to be, it'll be. I'll just pray Eclipse enjoys every minute while he's there and when its time to return there'll be something better in store for Eclipse back at home.

Well, That's my horse report for today, hope you enjoyed it. Gotta run, but, will look later for some pictures of Eclipse & Jazzy to send.

Spring 2005
, Eclipse returned home from Jeanie's. Jazzy joined him for the trailer ride and stayed at my barn for a few days to help smooth Eclipse's transition back home.

Ritakins had taken a fancy to Jazzy and this didn't sit well with Shetan, so we had to separate Shetan & Rockin'Rita from Jazzy& Eclipse with a paddock in between so there wouldn't be an adjoining fence. Eclipse & Jazzy had the front 3 pastures which were clearer and more conducive for racing. Which they did with all their heart and soul. They did everything together from playing to exploring the barn.

The next day Jeanie stopped by at lunch to give Jazzy a treat. Everyday afterwards, I'd find Jazzy hanging his head over the driveway fence, at noon, waiting for Jeanie to return. Wish I had a camera.
